Zhoushan Nico Ship Engineering Service Co., Ltd. (NEC MARINE) has completed a consolidated marine stores delivery for an MSC mega container vessel at anchorage off Liuheng, Zhoushan — covering hatch cover sealing products, deck consumables and a range of custom-made spare parts, all delivered on board within the vessel's tight schedule.

When a vessel waits, every item counts
Anchorage periods are often when supply needs peak and time is shortest. In this case the vessel raised requirements across several categories at once: hatch cover rubber gaskets that had to be customised to measured dimensions, alongside routine deck consumables, rigging fittings and piping seals.
For the owner, every hour at anchorage carries cost. For the supplier, it comes down to two things: breadth of range and speed of response.
Measure first, supply second
The hatch cover sealing gaskets were a case in point. Rubber ages and shrinks, steel grooves wear and deform, and drawing dimensions rarely match the actual condition on board. NEC MARINE technicians therefore went on board to measure groove width, depth and corner radius section by section, before arranging custom production to ensure an exact fit.

Based in Zhoushan, serving vessels from around the world
Zhoushan is among the busiest port clusters in the world, with constant demand for stores and spares both at anchorage and alongside. NEC MARINE operates a local service chain built on local warehousing, on-board measurement and fast delivery, covering the main port areas and anchorages of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port with a 24-hour response for container ships, bulk carriers, tankers and offshore units.
